SBL Sets Fundraising Record for Golf Benefit

June 27, 2024 8:46 a.m.

The Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation raised an event-record $76,000 at its 35th Annual Golf Benefit in June with net proceeds supporting SBL’s initiatives, including, but not limited to, Peace Meal, Children’s Dental services, Behavioral Health and other programs subsidized by the Health Center and donors.

SBL Special Events Officer Kim Lockart thanks everyone who participated in the Golf Benefit. “The community is always excited for this event, and we are grateful for its amazing support this year,” she said. “Thanks to both flights being filled to capacity and our generous sponsors, so many patients will receive the care they need, care they otherwise might go without. The 290 golfers really enjoyed themselves while helping raise funds for such an important cause.”

The golf committee, which met for several months to plan this event, includes Cindy Foster, Callan Haldorsen, Patty Hedges, Tim Kastl, Katy Lytle, Jenny Osborn, Kimmy Schaefer, Jean Smitley, Jake Titus and Sara Wall. Many of the committee members have served for multiple years. “We are also fortunate to have so many volunteers work the event. We couldn’t do it without them.” Lockart added.

Golf proximity prize winners included: Dan Lozano, Joe Pratt, Jim Hildebrandt, Mike Nickell, Chad Frerichs, Annette Wood, Blake Masse, Greg Davis, Fred Deremiah, Jeremy Morton, John Kennedy, Denny Miller, Emily Hayden, Jeremy Grewell, Guthrie Gardner and Kevin Lange. The Midwest Roofing team took home the low gross prize in the morning flight and Zimmer BioMet won low gross in the afternoon flight.

The event also offered two raffle packages: 1) a two-night stay at The Graduate Hotel in Nashville, TN which included a logoed Graduate duffle filled with logoed goodies, two bottles of wine and bourbon donated by Niemann Foods, and $500 spending cash, and 2) a vacation certificate to a destination of choice and $1,000 travel cash, donated by KC Summers. Winners were Debbie Smith and Angela Hegarty, respectively.

A huge thank you to the Golf Outing Partner, McCarthy Building Companies, and Title Sponsors: BSA LifeStructures, Consociate Health, First Mid, Hinshaw & Culbertson, Kirchner Building Centers, Meadowview Golf Course, Mt. Vernon TV & Appliance, Primary Systems, Quinn Johnston, and SC3F Wealth Management Group. The SBL Health Foundation also thanks the following Legend Sponsors: Arrow Glass, Grunloh Construction, Hilton Garden Inn, IMEG, KC Summers, Midwest Roofing, Peak Creative and Washington Savings Bank, and the many Pro, Senior, Amateur and Caddie Sponsors, and in-kind donors who helped make the event a success.
