Festival of Trees Committee Gearing Up for "Mistletoe Magic"

October 11, 2018 4:22 p.m.

The holiday season is just around the corner and plans are well underway for the 20th annual Festival of Trees at Sarah Bush Lincoln.

Beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and home décor will adorn the Lumpkin Family Center for Health Education at Sarah Bush Lincoln from 10 am to 8 pm on Friday, November 16, and 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, November 17. The public is invited to share in this winter wonderland event, themed “Misletoe Magic.”

Net proceeds from this year’s Festival of Trees will support Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation’s initiative, “Life . . . Nothing Beats It,” a capital campaign to raise funds for the cardiology expansion project that includes a new Heart Center and 21 new private patient rooms that recently opened.

An exclusive preview of the Festival of Trees is being offered again this year during “Friends Night Out,” from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, November 15. Guests may purchase cash-and-carry items, bid on silent auction items and view the beautifully adorned Education Center before doors open to the public at 10 am on Friday, November 16. Tickets for Thursday night, which can be purchased in advance or at the door, are $10 each and include a signature drink.

Another highlight of the Festival is the Memory Star Tree, which offers anyone the opportunity to purchase a star for $30 in honor of, or in memory of someone special. Following the Festival, those who purchased an ornament are encouraged to take it home to enjoy throughout the holidays. Net proceeds from the Memory Star Tree support Lincolnland Hospice programs. The deadline to order a Memory Star ornament is Oct. 26.

The Foundation extends a special thank you to this year’s sponsors: Consolidated Communications (Principal Media Sponsor); Dale & Marilyn Hoots (Title Sponsor), BSA LifeStructures, Co-Bank & Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative, Lori and Bobbo Cudone, First Mid Bank & Trust, and Leslie Hill (Gala Sponsors); WMCI, The Party, The Axe and Victory (Memory Star Tree Title Sponsors); Adams Memorials, and Anderson Electric (Festival Sponsors).

For more information about the Festival, contact Kim Lockart, event coordinator, at (217) 238-4765 or go to www.sarahbush.org. To purchase an ornament for the Memory Star Tree, tickets for Friends Night Out, or tickets to the Gala, call Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation at (217) 258-2511.
