SBL Golf Benefit Raises $50,000

The 24th annual Sarah Bush Lincoln golf benefit at Meadowview Golf Course experienced a record-setting year reaching net proceeds of more than $50,000.

Funds raised support the Health Center’s mission to provide exceptional care for all and create healthy communities through its Funding the Future Capital Campaign. Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative, Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLP, Lakeland Healthcare Group and Neal Tire and Auto Services were title sponsors of this year’s event.

A $200 cash prize was awarded to the top teams in each flight with Neal Tire & Auto Center’s team winning the morning round and a team from Lakeland Healthcare Group winning the afternoon round.

Prizes were awarded to winners on 15 of the18 holes. The remaining three par-3 holes had hole-in-one challenges with the chance to win a Kubota Gator sponsored by Niemeyer Kubota; a two-year lease on a Cadillac ATS sponsored by Diepholz Chevrolet; or a $10,000 cash prize sponsored by First Neighbor Bank. No one won any of the hole-in-one challenges.

Hole winners and prizes were: Jim Wallace – wine cooler and wine donated by Dr. Lori Cudone, and 2013 Golf Committee Members; Marsha Haldorsen – air compressor donated by John Henry Foster and two $20 Subway gift certificates; Randy Biehler – four Cardinal baseball tickets donated by Coke; Matt Lowe – golf package donated by Jeff & Debbie Boldig ; CJ Applegate – Callaway Odyssey putter and golf balls donated by Meadowview Golf Course; Scott Carlon – golf bag and golf balls donated by Meadowview Golf Course; Terry Allen – iPad donated by County Office Products; Jessica Drake – 32” TV donated by Walden’s TV & Appliance; Adam Dye –$300 Effingham Performance Center gift certificate and Budweiser bag toss game donated by Ronchetti Distributing; Wayne Callahan – Chicago Bulls tickets donated by Steve Tyriver & Sentinel Technologies, Inc; John Floyd – seven-night vacation package donated by Pilson Auto Center; Jeff Borntraeger – $500 cash donated by KC Summers; Kevin Dust – Pepsi golf bag donated by Pepsi and golf balls; Doug Abolt – Nascar tickets donated by Gordon Food Service; and Terri Biggs – five Cubs tickets donated Dr. Aldo Ruffolo.

Jessica Drake won the raffle drawing, winning a seven-night trip to a Grand Mayan Resort in Mexico for up to 10 people. Consolation prizes included, Illini football tickets, Cardinal tickets, gift certificates and more. Winners were: Jo Flannel, Rick Brockett, Dave Wetzel, Carol Floyd, Susie Titus, Jerry Esker, Greg Taylor, Sean Wheeler, Mike Genta, Ron Kistner, Jason Kocker and Brett Lockart.

Event Coordinator Kim Lockart extended a special thank you to all sponsors including Legend Sponsors: A & R Mechanical Contractors, Inc.; EMC; Dr. Matt & Shasta Jones; Magnet Solutions; and Quinn, Johnston, Henderson, Pretorius & Cerulo along with many others who helped make this year’s event a success. The Funding the Future Capital Campaign is raising funds to renovate and expand critical areas of the Health Center including the Emergency Department, Inpatient Surgery, Radiology, Laboratory and the creation of private rooms for adult inpatients. The campaign also supports Sarah Bush Lincoln’s initiative to create healthy communities through Healthy Kids programs aimed at helping area children lead healthier, more active lives.
